Project:

Lichen-Inspired Bioactive Surfaces for Improving Indoor Air Quality

Current Challenge

Indoor air quality is a central determinant of human health and quality of life in the modern world, and maintaining it consumes a vast amount of energy.

Research Goal

The goal of this project is to elucidate the design principles of sustainable bioactive surfaces that improve indoor quality. We are inspired by lichens due to their resilience to environmental fluctuations and their capacity to colonize building materials aim to explore the development of a lichen-like consortia which can enhance indoor air quality.
